The missio dei

The book of Acts begins with Pentecost (the outpouring of the Spirit). From that point on, in a radical way, the Church is called and empowered to join God’s work in, though, and around them. This is the great fulfillment of Joel’s prophecy in which all peoples--men, women, and children of all places--are filled with God’s Spirit.

Just like in Acts, God is at work moving ahead of us and around us, calling us to join in on the renewal of all things. Acts challenges our “traditional” notions of Church. The Spirit enters into the everyday life of the community. And the Church becomes more than a Sunday gathering; it breaks bread in homes and extends the good news of God everywhere.

We believe God is calling all of us towards active participation with the Spirit in our everyday life. That doesn’t mean we stop gathering! Instead, our gatherings exist to curate environments of presence and power where we, together, participate in and practice God’s renewing work learning and being formed into a people who join God in the everyday.
