Jessica hails from California technically, but in her opinion Sandy, Utah is her hometown. She was pretty young when her family picked up and moved to the great state of Utah. The suburbs got the job done, but when she went to University of Utah, she had no plans of the leaving the city after that.
Enter Michael Shawn Salazar Jr. She uses words like ‘selfless’ and ‘fun-loving’ and ‘hilarious’ and many would agree. They married and he took her to Austin, Texas for a summer for work, but soon came back to Utah. One never leaves Utah permanently. Everyone always comes back.
Jessica assists pastors and other staff members at Missio Dei. She’s indispensable. She enables much of the ministry that happens at Missio Dei. But don’t limit her to that. She has a heart larger than her home state with the capacity and husband to make significant changes in the world around her. Don’t let her quiet exterior full you.
Outside of Missio Dei, Jess works with Holding Out Help and Hungry for Life. She goes to Haiti as often as possible to visit her local friends while seeking ways to serve and love them. It’s not all serious though. She loves walks with her black lab Cayenne and reading and evenings with the friends she loves. Mike and Jess are also foster parents.
