Missio Kids Volunteers Needed
With more and more kids joining us in Missio Kids and many of our volunteers being gone for the summer, we are looking for more folks to step up and volunteer! There are many ways to serve in Missio Kids including checking kids in, playing with toddlers, teaching preschool or school aged kids, and serving as a teacher’s helper. If you are interested in serving or would like more information please email jessica@missiodeislc.com.

Men’s Breakfast: May 11th
Our next men’s breakfast will be Friday, May 11th. This will be a time to share breakfast, get to know one another more, and dig into scripture to see how responsibly we are communicating.  The gathering will be led by Jeremy Cox and Kyle Costello and will be held at the Hillcrest Space (170 East 1st Ave). We will begin with Breakfast at 6 am and then begin our discussion at 6:30.  We will finish up by 7:30 for those that need to get to work.

Save the Date: Missio Dei Camping Trip, July 6th-8th
Mark your calendars for our annual camping trip!  It will be July 6th-8th at Rockport State Park.

With this sermon we begin a new series at Missio Dei. Everyday Worship: the Life of the Disciple.

On the heels of Resurrection its tempting to think that we are now left on our own to figure out the Christian Life. However, the Bible shows us that the resurrected Jesus still pursues us, still teaches us, and still leads us in living lives that practice resurrection.

Jesus is alive. This news and its outcome defines Missio Dei. Because of Jesus’ birth, life, death and resurrection we are reconciled to the Father and stand before him confidently.

Jesus gathers his disciples together for one last meal. A meal where he will teach, prophesy of, and embody the gospel. Its a meal where he will ask them to not just be students but messengers of his ministry. Its where he initiates the new covenant where through Jesus sin will be remembered now more.

Missio Dei Ladies
There is a ladies’ group that meets periodically through out the month for bible studies, book studies, discussions, or just to hang out.  The schedule varies a bit, so if you’d like to be included in email communication about the group or if you have any questions please email lauraclother@gmail.com.

Missio Dei Softball Team: reply by March 26th
Missio Dei will be part of a co-ed softball league this Spring/Summer.  If you are interested in playing please contact Howie at howiesmith@mac.com by March 26th. Games will be Friday evenings at 6:30, 7:30, or 8:30 in West Valley at Centennial Park (5135 S 2775 W).  There will be no games scheduled on holiday weekends. The season begins April 20th and will end with a tournament in late July or early August.  The cost will be between $25 and $45 per person depending on how many people are interested and uniform needs.  

Monday Night Pipes: March 26th
Men of Missio Dei, you’re invited to Nash’s on March 26th from 6:30-9 PM for “Monday Night Pipes.” Please email nash@nashmartinez.com for more information.

Elephant Room: starts March 27th
Calling all theology enthusiasts, Bible geeks, or anyone who has thoughts and questions about the Bible, and wants to grow in that knowledge.  Starting on Tuesday, March 27th (and continuing on the last Tuesday of every month) we will be gathering once a month to discuss specific topics within Christianity, where we get the practices we practice, and why we live our lives the way we do.  We will first watch a video debate from a conference called the Elephant Room.  We will then moderate our own discussion on the same topic.  We will hold it at the Missio Dei Community Space starting at 7pm and anyone is welcome to come.  We will have coffee and water, but if you want to bring food feel free to pack it in.  Here is a link to check out the Elephant Room videos and what it is all about – http://vimeo.com/21069804.  If you have any questions please email kyle@missiodeislc.com.

Haiti Prayer and Discussion: March 29th
Thanks to all who have participated and prayed with us as we continue our journey towards engagement with the country of Haiti.  Anyone interested in praying through and discussing our next steps is invited to join us at the Hillcrest space at 6: 30 PM Thursday, March 29th.

Baptisms: April 8th
Throughout the history of the Christian Church, Baptism has been one of the most universally accepted practices, almost always understood as being connected with the beginning of the Christian life. It is a symbol of our being united with Christ in his death and resurrection. If you have committed yourself to following Jesus and have not yet responded to his call to be baptized, we encourage you to take part in the baptism this coming Easter. (Sunday, April 8th)  If you are interested in being baptized or have any questions please talk to your house church leader or feel free to email kyle@missiodeislc.com.

Baby Dedications: April 8th
Also on Easter, we will have Baby Dedications as an opportunity for parents to commit themselves to raising their children in the grace and knowledge of the Lord. Dedicating your child to God is a public sign that you are seeking to bring your children up in the ways of Christ, and as a community we stand with you in that passion.  If you’d like to dedicate your child or have any questions please email stefanie@missiodeislc.com or kyle@missiodeislc.com.

Jesus pursues us first. Luke 15 paints him as one who would take desperate measures to find a sheep gone astray.

NCAA Pizza Party w/ Crossroads: This Friday
This week a group of college students from Crossroads Bible Church in Texas are here in SLC to serve during their Spring Break.  Crossroads is one of Missio Dei’s supporting churches.  This Friday at 6:30 PM you’re invited to the community space (170 E. 1st Ave) to watch the NCAA tournament and have a chance to meet the Texas crew.  Please reply to this email to RSVP and plan on bringing $3-$5 for pizza.
