Read More...Jesus is the good portion. Our initial reaction to this text is not to find rest in Jesus, but to compare ourselves to Mary and Martha. And from that, we try to be like Mary. This passage of scripture doesn’t call you to be like Mary. That’s not the point. Yes, there are things you can learn both Mary and Martha, but Luke is more concerned with you seeing the value and worth of Jesus.

Missio Kids Volunteer Training THIS SATURDAY
Reminder to all MK volunteers AND those interested in volunteering!! There will be an important training this Saturday, February 4th from 10 AM to noon at the community space (170 E. 1st Ave). If you’re still considering the possibility of serving in Missio Kids please feel free to attend this training or email stefanie@missiodeislc.com
Super Bowl Bash
Everyone is invited to the community space for the Super Bowl! The grill will be hot at 4 and the game starts at 4:30. Bring something to throw on the grill and your favorite “football party” side to share. Soda, ice, plates, and napkins will be provided!
Gospel Defined (Men’s Breakfast)
Beginning THIS FRIDAY morning, the men of Missio Dei will gather the on the first Friday of the month to share breakfast, get to know each other more, and dig into scripture to see how responsibly we are communicating. The gathering will be led by Jeremy Cox and Kyle Costello and will be held at the community space. We’ll start with breakfast at 6 AM and will begin our discussion at 6:30 AM. We’ll wrap up by 7:30 for those that need to get to work.

Night of Prayer and Story
Join us next Thursday, February 9th for our Night of Prayer and Story. We will gather to pray for those traveling to Haiti, for God’s direction on how our community might engage there, and for the country in general. (6:30 PM at the community space).
Valentine’s Day dinner to fight human trafficking
Love 146 (www.love146.org) is working toward to abolition of child sex slavery and exploitation. You are invited to attend a Valentine’s Day dinner complete with music and education about fighting human trafficking on February 14th at 7 PM at Sandy Ridge Community Church. Tickets are $40/couple or $20/person. All proceeds will benefit Love 146 and childcare will be provided!
